This national organization dedicated to improving after-school care offers a policy updates page, primarily focused on national legislation and grants, plus links to state pages. They also have list serve which offers ideas on how you can get involved in advocacy efforts in your state. You can sign up for this by sending an email to afterschool_in_my_state@mg.com.
Council for Exceptional Children
The Council for Exceptional Children is dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptional abilities, students with disabilities and/or the gifted. The council advocates for appropriate governmental policies and professional standards.
Easter Seals
Easter Seals' mission is to help children and adults with disabilities expand their independence through rehabilitation services, recreational activities, technological assistance, vocational services, advocacy and public education programs.
National Asian Family/School Partnership Project
A Boston-based national project focused on improving educational opportunities for Asian immigrant students and assisting elementary and secondary schools to secure meaningful parent participation.
National Institute on Out–of–School Time (NIOST)
An action-research institute based at Wellesley College, with many useful resources for advocates, including details on current advocacy efforts.
Parent Teacher Association
This site offers users an opportunity to sign up for an email newsletter and action alerts related to federal legislative issues affecting school-aged children.
Stand for Children
The Massachusetts chapter of Stand for Children offers resources, action alerts and local teams to connect with in an effort to give children "a fair chance in life by advocating for quality public schools, early childhood education, and other essential children's programs."
